Tiene banco in queste ore il mondo Rim con le sue novità arrivate dal dal BlackBerry World. Non solo il nuovo smartphone BlabkBerry Bold 9900 ma anche due interessanti news relative alle nuove applicazioni per il BlackBerry PlayBook: Video Chat e Facebook.
L’applicazione Video Chat include, ad esempio:

- One-click Video e chiamate Voice over Wi-Fi
- Notifica delle video chiamate in entrata
- Funzioni potenziate delle chiamate in entrata
- Friends list per mantenere i contatti preferiti degli amici

L’applicazione Facebook include, ad esempio:

- Vedi e aggiungi amici
- Guarda le tue foto e video in modo facile e divertente
- Chattare con gli amici attraverso la chat di Facebook
- Leggi e interagisci con i Feed sociali

RIM Announces New Video Chat Application for the BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet
Allows BlackBerry PlayBook users to easily share special moments with friends and family Waterloo, ON – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the availability of the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ Video Chat application – an easy and fun way for friends and family to

Key features of the PlayBook Video Chat application include:
• One-Click Video and Voice over Wi-Fi Calls – with just one click users can make a call from their Video Chat contact list, log of recent calls or simply by entering the BBID email address of the person they want to call.
• Incoming Call Notifications – users will receive a notification pop-up when a new video call comes in, allowing them to accept the call as either a video or voice call, or decline the call. For those quiet moments – such as when while watching a movie or playing a game -users will also have the ability to
simply set the “Do Not Disturb” option and th BlackBerry PlayBook will automatically ignore all incoming calls.
• Powerful In-Call Functions – by using the picture-in-picture function users can easily preview their own video image prior to placing the call in order to see what will be displayed on the other end. They can also easily switch cameras from front to rear so their friends can see what they are seeing, and for
private moments users can mute/unmute audio or make or take calls using voice only.
• Friends List – BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat comes complete with a Friends List for maintaining your favorite contacts. A picture can easily be added to a contact to personalize the entry and a Call Log makes it simple to keep track of received and missed calls. The BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat application will be showcased this week at BlackBerry World 2011 (www.blackberryworld.com) in Orlando FL. BlackBerry 7

Il sistema operativo BlackBerry 7 è progettato appositamente per potenziare la piattaforma ad elevate prestazioni dei BlackBerry Bold, fornendo all’utente un’esperienza di impiego più semplice e veloce grazie al browsing migliorato, alle ricerche ad attivazione vocale, alla capacità di amministrare i contenuti personali separatamente da quelli lavorativi ed alla presenza di applicazioni personali e lavorative addizionali di ultima generazione.

Il motore di ricerca BlackBerry Browser è stato significativamente migliorato nel nuovo sistema operativo BlackBerry 7. Oltre al generale incremento delle prestazioni ottenuto grazie a Liquid Graphics, che permette un rendeering più rapido e opzioni di zoom e scorrimento più fluide, il browser BlackBerry 7 include un nuovo compiler JavaScript JIT (just in time) per velocizzare i tempi di caricamento delle pagine web. Il nuovo motore di ricerca supporta, inoltre, ulteriori elementi HTML5, come ad esempio le funzioni video HTML5.

Basandosi sulle funzioni di ricerca universale implementate nel BlackBerry 6, BlackBerry 7 ha ulteriormente esteso la capacità di ricerca per implementare funzioni di ricerca ad attivazione vocale. Questa nuova funzione rende ancora più semplice ed immediato cercare informazioni sullo smartphone o in rete.

BlackBerry 7 integra, inoltre, BlackBerry® Balance™, che permette di separare sullo smartphone i contenuti personali da quelli di lavoro, garantendo agli utenti la libertà e flessibilità necessarie per impiegare il sistema per e-mail personali, Facebook®, Twitter®, contenuti multimediali, giochi e altre applicazioni e al contempo garantendo che i dati di lavoro rimangano gestibili in condizioni di elevatissima sicurezza. Insieme a BlackBerry 7, sugli smartphone BlackBerry Bold 9900 e 9930 gli utenti riceveranno anche la versione completa di Docs To Go®, con tutte le funzioni “premium” abilitate immediatamente in modo da poter lavorare facilmente con file Word, Excel e PowerPoint direttamente sullo smartphone. NFC

Gli smartphone BlackBerry Bold 9900 e 9930 includono un sistema integrato di supporto NFC (Near Field Comunications), una nuova tecnologia che permetterà una serie di ricche ed eccitanti possibilità. Attraverso la tecnologia NFC gli utenti potranno, ad esempio, accoppiare il BlackBerry Bold ad un accessorio o leggere informazioni e link web da smart tag semplicemente avvicinando il BlackBerry Bold a un sensore NFC (come quelle contenute negli smart poster).

Video HD

I nuovi smartphone BlackBerry Bold 9900 e 9930 supporta la registrazione e la riproduzione di video HD fino a 720p. Gli utenti potranno facilmente condividere i loro video, la loro musica e le loro fotografie direttamente attraverso il loro smartphone o sincronizzandosi con il loro computer usando Media Sync, disponibile nel BlackBerry® Desktop Software

Realtà aumentata

Gli smartphone BlackBerry Bold 9900 e 9930 includono una bussola integrata (magnetometro) per poter supportare servizi basati sulla posizione e di realtà aumentata. Le API permetteranno anche agli sviluppatori esterni di integrare questa nuova funzione nelle loro applicazioni. I nuovi smartphone includeranno anche Wikitude, il software leader nei servizi di realtà aumentata nel segmento mobile, in grado di sovrapporre informazioni contestuali a ciò che gli utenti vedono attraverso il localizzatore della telecamera dello smartphone.

I nuovi BlackBerry Bold sono realizzati utilizzando una nuova piattaforma ad elevate prestazioni dotata di processore a 1.2 GHz, touch-screen Liquid Graphics™ e accesso ad altà velocità alle reti 4G HSPA+ wide area wireless networks.
